Job Title: Peer Support Outreach Worker


Summary of role: Peer Support Outreach Worker Contract: Fixed Term until October 2019 Location: Bristol and North Somerset Hours: 22.5 hours per week (to be worked flexibly from Monday to Friday) The West of England Centre for Inclusive Living (WECIL) is an organisation run by and for disabled people. Since 1995 we have been providing support, advocacy, advice and information services for disabled people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset and surrounding areas. We are looking for a self-starter with good communication skills and a can-do attitude to join our Peer Support Community project. The post is based in across North Somerset but will include some work from our Bristol office. This individual will help us continue to extend our Bristol based peer support network into North Somerset and aims to bring disabled people together, to share experiences and learn from each in informal settings. It will be supported by a number of peer support volunteers, who take on key roles within the project. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and resourceful be able to work on an outreach basis with support from the Bristol based team and able to travel to outreach locations across North Somerset and to the Bristol office as and when required. Job Purpose: To maintain and develop a disabled persons peer support network across North Somerset. The role will recruit disabled people across the geographical area and establish a peer support network and groups to address social exclusion particularly for those in rural locations, increase confidence and empower disabled people to support each other through access to training and sharing expertise. The successful candidate will be available to work flexible hours during the working week (from Monday to Friday). Part of the role will be office based in Bristol. You may also be required to work occasional evenings.

Annual salary/pro rata salary: £21,711 starting salary pro rata
