Job Title: Library Assistant Apprentice

Summary of role: South Gloucestershire Council are seeking a customer focused apprentice to work within the Library Service. This role will involve working 4 days a week at Bradley Stoke Library, plus alternate Saturday mornings.

As an apprentice you will welcome all library customers and identify their individual needs, to provide a quality service and enable customers to make full use of the facilities available. You will also support the systems and policies for the loan and management of stock, including self-service and use a variety of resources to provide information, including online services.   There is opportunity for you to take part in the creation, organisation and running of promotional activities and outreach work, as directed by the Library Supervisor; this will include working with children both within the library and in external settings.

Over the duration of the 13 month apprenticeship you will receive supervision, guidance and support from your workplace supervisor and a workplace mentor to help you develop the skills needed to carry out a variety of duties competently and effectively. You will also complete a Level 2 in Business Administration which will involve a weekly day release to SGS College on a Wednesday.

Please note that you will be expected to undertake a basic skills assessment as part of the selection process. These will take place at SGS College, Filton Avenue, Filton, Bristol, BS34 7AT week commencing 4th February 2019.

Job tenure: Part Time Apprenticeship, 30 hours per week over a 13 month period

Annual salary/pro rata salary: £4.20-£7.83 p/h dependant on age
