Important update from Green Community Travel

Services currently running:

Shopping Service

*This service is for those that have no family or friends in the area that could help with shopping, or if family and friends are also medically shielding, or if passengers cannot use online shopping.  We are currently evaluating whether we can continue this service from July but will communicate with passengers on the shopping list individually. We call passengers on the list on a Monday or a Wednesday. Passengers will be allocated to a Tuesday shopping run, or a Thursday shopping run. The office will call the day before to take the passenger’s shopping list. GCT collect the shopping and deliver it, we then work out what each passenger needs to pay and take payment over the phone by card. Passengers can send a cheque in as well, but card payment is preferable. Delivery Charge of £3 plus the cost of the person’s shopping. (* we are working with a local supermarket to implement this service, it is not a national scheme, this supermarket (Morrisons in Yate) are doing this purely to help our local community, we are incredibly grateful to them! If ever they reach capacity this may have to be revisited or we may have to stop this service.)

Ring and Ride

*Wherever possible, all fares are being taken over the phone by card to minimise the handling of cash*

We are still able to take people shopping and would encourage that if possible they attend during the supermarket’s vulnerable hours. We are focussing on medical and hospital appointments at the moment and are giving priority to these. Passengers can book as far in advance as they need to, and we encourage this wherever possible.

*Anyone that isn’t a bus pass holder, add £2 to the fare.*

Ring and Ride charges;

Distance – Home to Destination Bus Pass Holder Price
0-5 miles £4.50
5.1 – 10 miles £5.50
10.1 – 15 miles £6.50

Hospital transport charges;

£8 each way plus a £1.50 administration charge.

Passengers will be asked how long they need at their appointment so please ask the hospital/clinic if they can give you an approximation of length of appointment time. If it is impossible to know, e.g having an operation we would do what we call a double journey. We can always go through charges with people so please always have a chat to us if you’re unsure.

Prescription Deliveries:

We have started to collect prescriptions for passengers that are shielding or cannot make the journey to the pharmacy. The charge for this is £3.00, again we prefer to take payment over the phone. The prescription will be delivered to your door, the driver will ring the bell/knock and then stand back at a safe distance.

Membership/Financial Difficulty:

Throughout COVID we have waived our membership fee to try and help as many people as possible. From July we will be reintroducing this and it will be £9 to the end of the year. We always have the caveat with our services that if someone is experiencing financial difficulty or hardship they can speak to us confidentially and we can look at fares etc.

Areas covered:

Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Old Sodbury, Horton, Tormarton, Badminton, Hawkesbury, Wickwar, Charfield, Cromhall, Rangeworthy, Iron Acton, Winterbourne and Winterbourne Down, Frampton Cotterell, Coalpit Heath, Westerleigh and Pucklechurch as well as other villages in the surrounding area and areas in-between! We also travel to Downend, Kingswood, Emersons Green and Thornbury. If a destination is ‘out of our area’ we offer the passengers use of our Voluntary Car Scheme. We will also travel to all of the Bristol hospitals, including the Royal United Hospital in Bath, Cheltenham Hospital and Tetbury Hospital.
