On Behalf of South Gloucestershire Council, HR Services Bristol will be holding three workshops in 2019 based on Good Employment Practice.

Workshop One:

This workshop is an overview of the obligations of employers – whether you are thinking of employing someone, or already employ people and need to update your knowledge.

This workshop will cover:

  • The employment status of workers in an organisation: employee, casual worker, sub-contractor
  • 5 steps to compliance
  • Health and Safety
  • Insurance
  • Payroll and Pensions
  • Ending employment

At the end of the workshop delegates will understand employers’ key responsibilities and the basics of how to manage employees within their organisation.

Workshop Two:

This workshop follows on from HR Essentials, and equips delegates with an understanding of how to recruit, induct and manage employees.

The workshop will include:

  • 8 pillars of good employment practice
  • Recruiting the right people
  • Induction
  • The basics of managing people: two way feedback through supervision, appraisal, team meetings
    • Absences – holiday, sickness etc
    • Keeping records

At the end of this workshop, delegates will understand how to adopt a proactive approach to managing people in their business.

The final of three workshops, this session will outline the key features of managing people effectively to maximise the performance of any organisation.

  • What to do when things go wrong
