Electoral Review of South Gloucestershire: Draft Recommendations Consultation

The aim of the electoral review is to recommend revised ward boundaries that mean each councillor represents approximately the same number of voters, and that the pattern of wards reflects the interests and identities of local communities as well as promoting effective local government.

The draft recommendations propose that 61 councillors should be elected to South Gloucestershire Council in future.

Once the Commission has considered all the responses to the consultation, South Gloucestershire Council aim to publish final recommendations in January 2018.

South Gloucestershire Council will then lay a draft order in both Houses of Parliament under the negative resolution procedure. Subject to parliamentary scrutiny, the new electoral arrangements are scheduled to come into effect at the council elections in 2019

The consultation closes on 6 November 2017.
