Description of the Volunteer Role: About the opportunity
This is an opportunity to work with a small, lively and dedicated team who advise people about drug and alcohol use. Full training is given and can be a real advantage to applying for work in this field.

Key Activities:
• Supporting an Engagement Worker to visit individuals at their home to provide harm reduction advice
• Providing support at community outreach events and festivals to engage with members of the public around risk, promoting services, and providing brief interventions to reduce harm
• Assisting with the delivery of the needle exchange service: Providing equipment, harm reduction and safer injecting information and advice to IV drug users.

About DHI (Developing Health & Independence)
DHI is an award winning charity helping over 5,000 disadvantaged people each year turn their lives around. The people we help are often disadvantaged or living at the margins, meaning they are disproportionately affected by substance misuse, homelessness, offending, mental health issues and other factors that contribute to social exclusion. Few, if any of our clients, come with a single issue.

Rather than treat issues in isolation, we work with the person to find and resolve the root cause of complex issues. Often, the root cause is housing-related, so this is an area of focus for us. We see the person, not the label, and find the most effective way to help through highly practical and innovative projects and services.

We work in Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, and Somerset.
