The Wellcome Trust have partnered with Comic Relief to create the Curiosity Fund. The fund will use the power of exciting and engaging science activities to create change for children and young people experiencing disadvantage in the UK. Applications are open for grants of up to £10,000 to fund projects that engage children and young people in science-based activities.

Curiosity grants will allow organisations to develop new informal science learning activities to support young people’s personal and social development.

Many young people are positive about science, but struggle to see its relevance to their everyday lives. Putting science into non-school settings that young people are familiar with, particularly given that young people spend up to 80 per cent of their time outside of school, will start to address this problem and help to challenge the perception that science is ‘not for people like me’.
