Battle Against Tranquillisers (BAT) is looking for Trustees for our management committee. The time commitment to the role is for one monthly meeting (on the third Tuesday afternoon/evening of every month) plus associated tasks and admin, and attendance at our yearly AGM.
To be a Trustee of an organisation is an exciting and fulfilling role, and our Trustees help to ensure that Battle Against Tranquillisers fulfils its duties to its service users and delivers on our vision, mission and values. The most effective Boards are ones which benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. We would be very interested to hear from anyone with an interest in, or experience with, issues surrounding prescribed drugs of addiction (including benzodiazepine and z-drug sleeping pills, gabapentinoids and opiates), or an H.R or finance background – but enquiries are welcome from anyone who is simply interesting in becoming a trustee.
We are looking for people who have a strong empathy with our mission. Experience, skills, and expertise in issues relating to prescribed drugs of addiction (including benzodiazepine and z-drug sleeping pills, gabapentinoids and opiates) would be an advantage, but more important is a desire to learn more about this subject.
Among other things, the statutory duties of a trustee are:
The Board of Trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
All trustees, should also be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity.
Please email email@example.com to express your interest, and to be sent application materials.
