A Climate of Change – 20th March 2020
A solution focused event to explore the role of the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in South Gloucestershire towards preventing climate change and helping local people to deal with its effects.
By the end of the event you will have:
• Increased your awareness about the impacts of climate change, including its effects on health and wellbeing
• Discussed the barriers your organisation experiences towards preventing climate change and identified ways in which your groups might overcome them and be empowered to act on them
• Identified the role your organisation can play in responding to the threats posed by climate change
• Learnt about local tools and initiatives that support or demonstrate ways for groups to help prevent climate change

Our conference will include a mixture of speakers, presentations and a series of workshop sessions shaped by you, the participants, with the aim of ensuring a day focused on actions, not words.
In 2019 South Gloucestershire Council declared a Climate Emergency
The Care Forum have produced a briefing on Climate Change and Health and the role of the VCSE including further information sources.
The conference will run from 9:30am – 4pm
10am Conference Starts
We are working to minimise food waste – participants are invited to bring their own lunch. If you would prefer lunch to be provided there will be a charge of £8, this will need to be paid 2 weeks prior to the conference to secure your booking.
We are using Thornbury Leisure Centre’s Conference hall and suite, there is a separate entrance for this facility, which is clearly signposted.
There is disabled parking on site.
Do you need transport? We are putting on 1 mini bus to help with transport needs, collection point TBC – the mini bus is being provided by Green Community Travel. Please email Tara-Lou, Business Support Officer, CVS for more information or to book a space.
There are bus stops directly outside Thornbury Leisure Centre.
This years conference is organised by CVS South Gloucestershire and The Care Forum with the addition of South Gloucestershire Council.
