FACE has been chosen to be one of ASDA Filton's charities for their green token scheme for the next 3 months. The winning charity gets £500! This money would really help provide more youth and community work in Filton! Please drop some green tokens in the FACE box whenever you shop in ASDA Filton and encourage your friends and family to do the same!

FACE (Foundation for Active Community Engagement) is a registered Youth & Community charity based in Filton which was set up in 2014 to continue the legacy of great community youth work which the church had provided since the 1940s.

The youth centre building itself has a long history… following a horrific minibus crash in 1962 which killed 12 people including the youth worker, young people and their families attending a Duke of Edinburgh’s presentation, the Methodist Church and (as was then) Avon County Council launched a public appeal and funding scheme which led to the building of the youth centre; which has now proudly sat in Elm Park since it opened in 1967. Generations of young people have come to the youth centre for a variety of activities since then. Due to government cuts in youth work funding in 2013, the management committee started looking at ways to maximise funding potential and expand the work the centre provides. ‘FACE’ was born to provide youth and community work and to work alongside other organisations in Filton to provide services, activities, support and development opportunities.

FACE now provides activities for children from the age of 7 including youth clubs, trips, volunteering opportunities and Duke of Edinburgh’s awards. There are groups specifically for people with Learning or Social Disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Disorders from age 11+ right through to adults. Facing Forwards provides a weekly daytime educational and social space. There’s a Silver Surfers group for over 50s to engage with technology and a Work Club for those who are unemployed.
