Funded awarded to support young people

Southern Brooks Community Partnership is pleased to announce that they have secured £20,000 from the Office for Criminal Justice Reform through the Community Cashback Scheme. This funding will be used to set up Dreamschemes in Filton, Patchway and Bradley Stoke.

Dreamschemes are a way to get young people between the ages of 8 and 16 actively involved in the community through WORK – POINTS – TRIPS. For us at Southern Brooks it’s also a great opportunity to bring people from different generations together, building respect and understanding between people of all ages. We also hope to reduce anti-social behaviour by providing positive opportunities for young people’s involvement. The driver behind Dreamschemes is that young people themselves identify projects that they want to undertake.

Where Dreamschemes have worked best they have been led by multi-agency steering groups, helping them to be sustainable once the funding has run out. We are lucky enough to have two part time posts to set up the initial schemes, which we aim to start in February. The funding is to be spent this financial year, so it’s important that we work with a range of partners to ensure the project can continue once the funding finishes.
