Beginners guide to funding opportunities
A course designed to increase understanding of the range of different types of funding and what is appropriate for your group or organisation.
This one day course is for anyone who is new or fairly new to the whole area of fundraising. It will take you through, step by step, everything you need to know about the different ways that groups and organisations raise money and help you to action plan for what you need to do next.
The day will include:
- Understanding where your funding currently comes from, if you already receive any
- Current challenges for voluntary organisations in securing resources
- Understanding the major sources of funding – including grant-making trusts, contracts, donors, community, corporate, grants, trading
- Thinking about what your group or organisation wants to do and which type of funding would suit you best
- Your approach to fundraising
- Understanding the key questions that most funders will ask
- Fundraising resources – where to get the information and help you need
- Developing an action plan of what to do next

Managing in Tough Times is a guide covering key issues that may affect Third Sector organisations during periods of financial insecurity. It offers a framework for identifying and assessing current risks and offers guidance on how an organisation can manage and adjust to change. Should the difficult decision be made to close the organisation, it offers guidance on the steps that are required depending on the legal structure of the organisation. Produced by the Westof England ChangeUp Consortium funded by CapacityBuilders.

South Gloucestershire Single Equality Scheme
South Gloucestershire Council is currently working on the production of a Single Equality Scheme (SES).
This document is central to the council’s equality work – it sets the strategic aim in relation to equalities and also details the actions they intend to take in order to deliver those aims.
The SES covers all equalities ‘strands’ and SGC are currently seeking comments and feedback from key members - one of which is CVS South Gloucesteshire
