The Pink Exhibition features NBT members of staff and their stories, along with well-known people. Come and see it in the Learning and Research Department throughout February.

This is a chance to tell NBT what you think about our performance under the Equality Delivery System at the workshops and is important as your comments will help to set our objectives on LGBT matters.

Volunteer Condom Stuffing/Sexual Health and ‘Children of God’ Film Screening

With love on the mind this is a chance to come and help prepare the free condoms distributed throughout the community and a special film screening of Children of God: Set on the sun-drenched Bahaman islands, the award winning Children of God paints a universally relevant portrait of love, desire, sexual conflict, tolerance and self-acceptance.

Love Music, Hate Homophobia

OutUWE (UWE’s LGBT Student Network) proudly present Love Music Hate Homophobia. This fundraising event features performers from choirs, circus acts, jazz, poetry and performance art inc. Sing Out Bristol, Anna Freeman, Swing Thing, UWE Drama Soc and Crinkle Cuts. LMHH is a national campaign which seeks to raise awareness of homophobia and the challenges faced by LGBT people, using music and art.

‘We Are:’ presents We Are: Remembering

‘We Are:’ (www.wearefest.com) brings you the first of this year’s host of special events in a one night spectacular LGBT History night. Expect a musical trip down memory lane with music from the 80/90/00s along with information on LGBT fights, plights and triumphs from those decades.

The night is also the Bristol Panthers social following their 4th annual Bristol Challenge Cup (ffi: http://www.bristolpanthers.co.uk) so expect a busy one!

As a volunteer you will help deliver a valuable social service that enables members of the local community to go shopping, meet friends, visit the doctors / dentist and to go on day trips etc.  Destinations that we visit regularly include Laycock Village, various Garden Centres, Weston Super Mare, Weymouth and Burnham on Sea to name just a few.  The role of volunteer driver is absolutely essential in helping local people to participate and remain active in their local community. 

KCT has a small fleet of vehicles ranging from small cars, through people carrier to 14-seater mini-buses.  KCT will provide you with free driver training, which is no way onerous or difficult, in order that you can drive our vehicles.  We also cover your driver insurance so there is no cost to you.  We will also provide you with wet weather and out door clothing as required as well as covering out of pocket expenses.  You can work as often or as little as you like and plan your timetable so that it is convenient for you and suits your lifestyle.

The Senior Administrative Officer plays a key role in the development of specific projects and events, implementation of council decisions and the servicing of council meetings.  This is an interesting and varied post for which you should possess excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills plus community focus.

Heritage Education Assistant

Working at Yate Heritage Centre, the Heritage Education Assistant develops and delivers heritage school sessions, educational packages, workshops, projects and a handling collection and takes operational responsibility for Yate Heritage Centre in the absence of the Heritage Officer.

This is an interesting and varied post for which you should possess excellent organisation and communication skills plus community focus, with a particular interest in heritage and education.

This year the Council will be teaming up with the national ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign. You can register your group at www.lovewhereyoulive.org and access more resources to help promote your event.

Free gloves, refuse bags, hoops and litter pickers will be available to help your event go to plan. To register your interest please complete the booking form and return it to us by 24 February 2012.

Recycling litter - Last year a number of groups asked if we could introduce a way to recycle the litter that was picked. So this year we are providing clear bags for recyclable waste. Can your group separate your litter as they collect it? It’s much easier and less messy to separate recyclable and non-recyclable litter into different sacks during your tidy up rather than after. To help you recycle please request some clear plastic bags (max 3 per group - one for cans, one for plastic and spare bag). Disposing of waste from your BIG Spring Clean
If you have the resources yourself you can take your filled refuse bags to your local SORT IT centre.

Alternatively you can arrange for South Gloucestershire Council’s Street Care Team to collect the sealed refuse bags from your BIG Spring Clean event. You will need to agree a time and location with the council for the removal of collected rubbish. Please arrange this prior to your event – by providing the necessary information on the booking form overleaf. The bags will be collected as soon as possible after your event.

Where on-street collections are not possible or for large scale events, we can provide a skip, which we will try to collect at the end of your event. Please state on the booking form (overleaf) which skip size you require. Skips will only be provided for litter collection and not for waste material from buildings.

The following items can no longer be put in skips:-
• Tyres
• Computer monitors and televisions
• Fridges and Freezers

Schools will have to demonstrate that they have a serious litter problem before a skip will be supplied.

The information that we have collected in previous years has helped CVS to provide a better service for local organisations and to advocate effectively on behalf of the sector.

This year we are managing the survey in conjunction with our voluntary sector partners The Care Forum, Southern Brooks Community Partnership, Chase and Kings Forest Community Project and South Gloucestershire Faith and Belief Forum.  They have helped in the design of the survey and in sending it out to organisations that they work with.
