Last chance to comment on the Council’s draft Single Equality Plan

South Gloucestershire Council has prepared a draft Single Equality Plan that sets out the Council’s aims for equalities in South Gloucestershire. The plan is the document that sets out how the Council will deliver its Corporate Equality and Diversity Policy.

The Council is asking for your views on the Single Equality Plan and the deadline is Tuesday 31st January.

The Council is committed to valuing and treating all people with dignity and respect and the Equality and Diversity Policy sets out three broad objectives,

• To recognise that people, whether as communities or individuals, will have specific needs that need to be recognised and addressed in order for them to develop their full potential;
• To acknowledge that the majority view is not always right and the rights of minorities will need to be protected;
• To mainstream equalities into all aspects of our policy development and service delivery.
